Zhang Nan and Zhao Yunlei clinch Mixed Doubles title at the 2012 Malaysia Open Super Series
China’s best shuttlers, Zhang Nan and Zhao Yunlei, stamp their supremacy in the world of badminton as they have clinched Mixed Doubles title after crushing their compatriots, Xu Chen and Ma Jin, in title match of the 2012 Malaysia Open Super Series in Kuala
Lumpur, Malaysia, on Sunday, January 15.
The World Number One, Nan and Yunlei, who were the top seeds in Mixed Doubles draw of Malaysia Open, played at their best and easily overpowered Xu and Ma who are currently ranked at number two in world rankings.
The top seeds showed their higher class and took the final contest of Malaysia Open in style as they consumed just 28 minutes in the court to chuck out their team-mates in a straight games.
Nan and Yunlei remained in superb control of the game from the starting points of title match and did not face any problem from Xu and Ma until the end of opening half of first set.
The top seeds remained successful in taking a comfortable lead until the break by reaching at 11-5.
After the break, Xu and Ma tried to reduce the deficit but failed as they executed many strokes that went long or wide of the court.
On the other hand, Nan and Yunlei did not show any sign of confusion in the whole game and ended it with a remarkable margin of 21-12.
In the following set of this final encounter, the higher ranked Nan and Yunlei played positive and aggressive badminton and remained far ahead of their compatriots in the first half.
Xu and Ma could not cope up with the pace of rallies and also failed to find gaps in the court of their challengers. Nan and Yunlei remained successful in setting up a stunning gap of 11-4 until the one-minute break.
After the break, Nan and Yunlei stretched their lead by coming fast at net and dominated the pace of rallies from all areas of the court. They finished the second game in style with a one-sided 21-9 score on the board.
Nan and Yunlei ended this 28-minute straight-game final encounter with a remarkable score of 21-12 and 21-9.
