Zhang Nan and Zhao Yunlei continue their peerless run in BWF Super Series Finals – Badminton news
China’s Zhang Nan and Zhao Yunlei remain on the winning track as they are through to the final after beating Japan’s Shintaro Ikeda and Reiko Shiota in the Mixed Doubles semi-final of the 2011 BWF Super Series Finals, in Liu Zhou, China, on Saturday, December 17.
The World Number One, Nan and Yunlei, who has been impressive throughout the year, continued their peerless run in the semi-final of Super Series Finals and crushed the Japanese couple without any mercy.
The Chinese couple played their usual fast game in the match and finished it up in straight sets by taking just 33 minutes in the court.
The first set of the match was tough in the opening half but the Chinese shuttlers dominated the game in the later half and won the game with a decent score. However, in the second set, the Chinese duo showed no mercy to their opponents and won the game with a stunning margin without facing any problem.
Both couples put up superb show in the opening set of the match as they played with wonderful precision and aggression. The score progressed equally from both sides as they were playing positive badminton. Until the break in the first set, the score was quite close as no side could manage a reasonable lead.
After the break, Chinese players started to show their elite skills by accelerating their speed in all corners of the court. They pushed the Japanese duo on the back foot and remained successful in taking the set with a decent score of 21-17.
In the following game, Nan and Yunlei played terrific badminton and remained in superb control of the game. They faced no problem in creating gaps in the court of their rivals.
The wonderful performance of the Chinese couple in the second game helped them to finish the set with a striking score of 21-11. This semi-final contest ended in straight sets with a 21-17 and 21-11 score on the board.
In the final battle, Nan and Yunlei will take on their team-mates, Xu Chen and Ma Jin, who defeated Denmark’s Joachim Fischer Nielsen and Christinna Pedersen in the other semi-final showdown.
