Zhang Nan and Zhao Yunlei win Mixed Doubles crown in the 2011 China Open Premier Super Series
China’s impressive shuttlers, Zhang Nan and Zhao Yunlei have stamped their supremacy in the Mixed Double category as they have won the Mixed Doubles title in the 2011 Li Ning China Open Premier Super Series, in China, on Sunday, November 27.
The world’s best couple of Nan and Yunlei defeated the World Number Three couple of Joachim Fischer Nielsen and Christinna Pedersen in straight sets in the final contest of the championship.
The top seeds and World Number One, Nan and Yunlei took just 38 minutes to crush the Danish couple in a one-sided fashion. The Danes failed to produce good form against the higher ranked Chinese shuttlers and lost the final match without playing positive
badminton.
The Chinese couple stunned the Danish duo in the opening game by playing to their full potential and bagged it with a superb score on the board. In the following set, the Danish duo put up meagre resistance against the mighty Chinese opponents, who remained
on course to win the second set with an impressive margin.
Right from the opening points, both couples employed their skills to get a strong position in the game. The score progressed equally and reached at 4-4 when Nan and Yunlei lifted up their level of play and remained successful in taking a remarkable lead
of 11-6 until the break in the first half of the game.
In the second part of the first set, Nielsen and Pedersen became fast in all areas of the court but failed to bridge the gap as their opponents made no mistake and never lost their focus in the game. Nan and Yunlei strolled in the whole set without facing
any interruption from their Danish rivals and won the set with a terrific difference of 21-11.
In the second set, the both sides played well in the initial points but soon, Nan and Yunlei took over the control of the rallies and started to dictate their challengers in all corners of the court. Their impressive performance ended the hopes of Nielsen
and Pedersen to fight back in the game.
Throughout the second game, Nan and Yunlei remained in dominating position and finished the set with a comfortable margin of 21-14. The Chinese couple emerged as victorious in the final contest in straight games with a margin of 21-11 and 21-14.
