Zhao Jing and Lu Ying win gold medals in swimming events: Day three – Chinese Long Course Nationals
Zhao Jing and Lu Ying of China dominated the final round of Women’s 50m back-stroke and 100m butterfly respectively, on the third day of the 2011 Chinese Long Course Nationals. The session completed on Saturday, September 24, in Rizhao, China.
Apart from the above mentioned events, spectators also enjoyed tremendous efforts of their national talent in Women’s 200m Individual Medley (IM) and Men’s 400m IM.
Jing conquered the gold medal of 50m discipline by showering her scintillating efforts in the single-lap event with a timing of 27.97 seconds. The gold medallist was trailed by her national team-member, Fu Yuanhui, who remained 0.29 seconds behind her and
appeared on the finishing wall by submitting a time of 28.26 seconds. The third spot on the race was secured by Cheng Haihua, who was just 0.07 seconds slower than her former finisher and reached the podium for silver medal by reporting a time of 28.33 seconds.
Next was the Women’s 100m butterfly, where Ying presented a noteworthy swim and occupied the crown of the event by posting a time of 57.99 seconds. Ying was trailed by her closest competitor, Sun Mengyue, who remained only 0.95 seconds slower than her and
clocked a time of 58.94 seconds for silver medal. Similarly, Mengyue managed a lead of 0.10 seconds over her following swimmer, Zhou Yilin, as she stepped on the podium for bronze medal, with a timing of 59.04 seconds.
In the meantime, the crowd enjoyed the impressive swim of Zhu Xiaoya in the IM discipline. Xiaoya easily overwhelmed the efforts of her fellow competitors by clocking a top ranked time of 2 minutes and 13.08 seconds. The gold medallist was traced by Li Xuanxu,
who was only 0.14 seconds slower and secured the podium for silver medal with an effort of 2 minutes and 13.22 seconds. He Yuzhe surfaced as the third fastest finisher of the event and earned the bronze medal by producing a time of 2 minutes and 14.47 seconds.
Finally, Wang Shun conquered the title of Men’s 400m IM by touching the wall in 4 minutes and 11.61 seconds. He was nearly one second ahead of his strongest competitor, Huang Chaosheng, who ended his swim in a time of 4 minutes and 12.54 seconds for silver
medal. Yang Zhixian surfaced as the bronze medallist of the IM event and hit the wall in 4 minutes and 13.77 seconds.
In addition, the arena appreciated the notable efforts of all national swimmers, while podium finishers were invited on the medal rostrum for their commendable swims after the session’s completion.
