Zhao Jing claims Women’s 50m back-stroke title: Day three – Chinese Long Course Nationals
Zhao Jing stunned the crowd on day three of the 2011 Chinese Long Course Nationals in Rizhao, China, on Saturday, September 24. The session of the competition organised three events. Zhao Jing secured the golden crown in the Women’s 50m back-stroke race,
whereas, Lu Ying won the Women’s 100m butterfly title. On the other hand, Shanghai took home the Women’s 400m freestyle relay crown.
In the Women’s 50m back-stroke final heat, Zhao powered the finishing wall with a record mark of 27.97 seconds to win gold medal on the podium. More importantly, Zhao thrashed down Gao Chang’s previous best meet record of 27.98 seconds, set back in 2011. The
victory also moved her to seventh spot in the international rankings of swimming.
Meanwhile, Fu Yuanhui hit the finishing wall in 28.26 seconds to win silver medal of the platform and Cheng Haihua secured bronze medal on the podium by posting a winning mark of 28.33.
On the other hand, the Women’s 100m butterfly title was clinched by Lu Ying with a victorious mark of 57.99 seconds. Most Importantly, Ying beat her previous best record of 57.06 seconds, set back in this year. In the meantime, Sun Mengyue took home the
silver medal on the podium by submitting a winning time of 58.94 seconds and Zhou Yilin captured bronze title of the platform by posting a matchless time of 59.04 seconds.
The Women’s 400m freestyle relay crown was taken over by Shanghai with a victorious time of 3 minutes and 43.10 seconds. In the corresponding race, Guanzhou hit the wall in 3 minutes and 43.63 seconds to win silver medal on the podium. Last, but not the
least, Shandong secured bronze medal in the respective after she touched the finishing wall and ended her swim in a winning time of 3 minutes and 43.80 seconds.
The arena gave a huge ovation to all participants of the event due to their scintillating splashes in their respective meets, while the triumphant were awarded medals and accolades after the session’s completion.
