Zhejiang Guangsha extend an offer to Dallas Mavericks star Tyson Chandler – NBA Update
At a time when international leagues are pushing hard to land the big giants in NBA, the Chinese franchise can only target players, who are free agents. The reason for that is the regulation introduced by their own association,
in a bid to prevent the Chinese league from becoming the back yard of jobless NBA players.
Tyson Chandler, being the top free agent in NBA has thus automatically become the top choice for the Chinese. According to sources, Zhejiang Guangsha has been in continuous talks with Chandler and they have recently offered an
extended deal to the NBA superstar.
The move comes after Zhejiang Guangsha signed the restricted free agent Wilson Chandler of Denver Nuggets. The only problem that might come now is that whether Chandler will be willing to take risk of the whole season absence.
The foreign players in the Chinese league are barred from having an out clause in their contract and if Chandler chooses to move to China, he will not be able to return to NBA if in case the season starts.
The Mavericks at present have six players of their championship winning team in the free agency and Chandler is the most prominent among them. Tyson has already indicated that he wants to re-sign with the team and Mavericks also
want their big man back.
The biggest fear for Chandler is that if he commits to play in China and NBA gets back to business during that time, Mavericks will have to sign someone to complete their roster and the centre might miss the boat.
During a recent interview, Tyson brought up the same concern which is restricting him from making a move, despite of having good offers.
"With the collective bargaining agreement and some of the things that they're trying to enforce, it would basically prohibit me from coming back. It would take it out of my hands -- and the organizations -- because it would almost
be pretty much impossible for me to re-sign. I just think that can be the worst thing that can happen." Chandler said.
However, with the NBA season seems destined to be annulled at present and if Tyson can ever take a chance, it will be now.
