Zheng Yi Kok and Keat Zhen Kong penetrate into Men’s Doubles main round at Singapore Open
Malaysia’s Zheng Yi Kok and Keat Zhen Kong started their run in an impressive fashion and advanced into Men’s Doubles main round after beating India’s Sanjeeth S. and Jagadish Yadav in qualifying round encounter at the 2012 Singapore Open Super Series in
Singapore, on Tuesday, June 19.
Zheng and Keat, who were seeded at number two in Men’s Doubles draw in qualifying round, put up tremendous show in front of the local fans and ousted their Indian challengers in an authoritative manner.
The higher ranked Zheng and Keat were one class above their Indian opponents as they showed their higher class by dictating the pace of rallied in the whole battle and ended it up in straight sets in just 22 minutes.
On the other hand, Sanjeeth and Jagadish failed to live up to the expectations as they were completely unable to cope up with the pace of rallies and lost the fight in two games without establishing their worth in the court.
In the first set, the second seeded Zheng and Keat could not find an early lead as their opponents were also playing fast and positive game.
However, until the one-minute break, the Malaysian shuttlers managed to take a reasonable advantage on the score board.
After the interval, the Indians also showed their aggression as they played well at net and also troubled their rival by progressing at the same speed.
In the concluding phase of opening set, Zheng and Keat created pressure on the Indians by moving fast at the net and took the game with a 21-19 score on the board.
In the second game, Zheng and Keat did not waste any time in taking a wonderful lead at the initial stage and maintained it until the one-minute interval.
After the break, Zheng and Keat continued their positive performance in the court without slowing down their speed and eventually won the set with a huge 21-14 margin on the score board.
The higher ranked Zheng and Keat emerged as the winners in this Men’s Doubles qualifying round battle with an impressive score of 21-19 and 21-14.
