Zhixian Yang clinches Men’s 200m butterfly gold – 2012 Chinese National Swimming Championships
Zhixian Yang of Hunan clinched gold medal of the Men’s 200m butterfly on fourth day of the 2012 Chinese National Long Course Swimming Championships in Huangshan, Anhui Province on Wednesday, September 26.
Yang smothered his opponents with his commendable form in the four-lap butterfly discipline. He showed no mercy to his challengers over the finishing end and surfaced on the wall as top fastest swimmer.
Yang gained a comfortable lead over his challengers from the start and ensured his place on the victory stand for gold medal. He remained nearly two body lengths ahead of his following swimmer and surfaced on the finishing end by producing a fantastic time
of 1 minute and 58.40 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Ziqiao Zuo of Anhui, who remained almost 1.80 seconds slower and touched the wall for silver medal by producing an effort of 2 minutes and 00.23 seconds.
The second position holder was followed by Yu Liu of Henan, who remained 0.10 seconds behind and touched the wall for bronze medal by submitting a time of 2 minutes and 00.33 seconds.
On the other hand, Yiwen Shao of Zhejiang served notice of her talent in the Women’s 200m freestyle. Shao experienced strong competition from her fellow swimmer but succeeded in securing the top of victory stand for gold medal.
She remained only a touch ahead of her closest competitor and clocked an effort of 1 minute and 58.16 seconds for the title.
The champion was followed by Duo Shen of Jiangsu, who was 0.07 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and pocketed silver medal by clocking a time of 1 minute and 58.23 seconds.
The second position holder was chased by Yue Cao of Shanxi, who was 0.63 seconds away from overpowering her foregoing finisher and touched the wall with an effort of 1 minute and 58.86 seconds for bronze medal.
Furthermore, Yang and Shao received a huge round of applause from the audience for their splendid form and collected medals after the session. They also stated that they would continue their struggle to achieve the same in future events.
