Zia ul Haq wants to emulate Wasim Akram – Cricket News Update
Zia ul Haq, the left-arm fast bowler of Pakistan Under-19s, has expressed his desire to achieve heights similar to those attained by the country’s legendary pacer and former skipper, Wasim Akram, who is undoubtedly considered one of the greatest in the history
of the sport.
The young fast bowler hails from Vehari, the home town of another Pakistani legend, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 Under-19s and is expected
to play a major role in the upcoming http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746, later this year.
Zia was recruited by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-International-Airlines-c831 (PIA) about a year and a half ago and the left-arm rookie has been doing well in the country’s domestic circuit, testament to which was his debut in the recently concluded Faysal Bank Super 8 T20 Tournament
2011-12, where he grabbed five wickets in his very first appearance.
While talking to Pakpassion, the young and upcoming fast bowler shared that he looks up to the legendary Wasim Akram and revealed that he works on his own skills, watching Akram’s bowling videos.
Zia said, “http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Wasim-Akram-c96292 has always been my inspiration, I just loved watching him bowl. I only watched him when he was at the tail end of his illustrious career but the collection of videos and DVDs of his bowling have always been an inspiration to me. He’s
definitely my hero.”
The young cricketer recently toured South Africa and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sabih-Azhar-c87765. The tall left-arm fast bowler loved bowling on South African pitches because of the additional bounce and pace.
“It was my first overseas tour and I really enjoyed the tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 at the start of the year and it was nice to be bowling on surfaces that offered something to the quick bowlers,” he expressed.
Since the ban imposed on http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Wahab-Riaz-c95839 right behind him, Zia will have to prove himself in first-class cricket in
order to break into the national squad.
