The Egyptian international has rejected a new deal from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/1-FSV-Mainz-05-c38166 and will be a free agent in this summer’s transfer window.
FSV Mainz have revealed that striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mohamed-Zidan-c26404 will not be at the club for the next season as the contract talks broke down. The former Borussia Dortmund attacker was offered a one-year deal at the club but he refused to put
pen-to-paper on the new contract and will be looking for a new destination this summer.
Zidan joined the O-Fives in the January transfer window, signing a six-month deal for his second stint for the club. The player scored six goals in his first six games for the club and became the first player in the league history
to do so.
Mainz general manager Christian Heidel has revealed that the Egyptian striker has refused to sign a new deal at the club and admitted that he will be on his way out of the club. He insisted that the club tried to negotiate a deal
but things did not work out.
The chief hailed the striker for putting in a major contribution to save the side from relegation and thanked him for his vital performances.
“Mohamed Zidan has rejected (the contract) and we are not going to negotiate any further. The plan did work out in that he made a huge contribution towards us avoiding relegation,” he was quoted as saying in an interview to Kicker
magazine.
Heidel clarified that the two parties never had a disagreement on monetary terms and insisted that the main issue was regarding the length of the contract. He added that the club was only willing to offer the striker a one-year
deal.
“We have had three fantastic short spells with Zidan, but now it all came down to a long-term collaboration. Money was never an issue, it was purely the length of the contract,” he concluded.
It would have been Mohamed Zidan’s third stint at the Coface Arena had he agreed to stay with FSV Mainz. The striker had previously joined the side in 2005 before leaving for Hamburg SV two years later.
