The legendary footballer has claimed that La Roja are the favourites to overcome Les Bleus in the quarter-final clash on Saturday.
Real Madrid’s Sporting Director, Zinedine Zidane, has opted to dub Spain as the stronger side against France as he believes that Del Bosque's men are in more advantage heading into the quarter-finals of the Euro 2012.
La Roja will take up the challenge of eliminating the Bleus from the prestigious tournament as the two teams come face to face.
Both, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 and Spain, have made it to the last eight of the Euro, and now they must fight to book a place in the last four of the coveted competition.
Del Bosque’s men have not been defeated in their current Euro campaign and their path to the last eight was considerably comfortable as compared to the French.
Their first match was a 1-1 draw against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Croatia-c2879. The Reds were most impressive against the Irish as they managed a 4-0 victory over the Boys in Green.
On the other hand, the French national team faced a number of complications in the group stages. Laurent Blanc’s men managed a draw against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sweden-c3015 almost caused a scare.
Zidane was part of the side that defeated Spain the last time the two sides met in a major competition. However, the veteran expects things to be different this time round.
On paper, La Furia Roja appear clearly stronger than Les Bleus, however, one can hardly be certain about what to expect.
While talking to reporters, Zizou was quoted as saying:
“http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 is going to have most of the possession, because that’s what they’re used to and they do it well. France knows this, so we’ll have to see what happens in the midfield. Right now we know that Spain is the favourite, not just to win this game, but the
tournament too. They know what’s at stake. I think you are too hard on Spain. They’re playing well”
The two sides will meet on Saturday at the Donbass Arena in Donetsk.
