During WW2 we Americans had to use the Bauch & Lomb which were a poor imitation of the German Ziess. The same with navigation sextants.

Now, with the computerized optics industry who makes the best binocs?

I saw a pair of Ziess bonocs a few years ago in a Michigan

opthalmologist's office for the sum of $1,100.00. Crazy!

I have a decent pair of no name bincos I paid about $25.00 for a few years ago but they are not professional grade by any means.

If any knows about lens quality please, let me know

  1. i would go with injanier he seems to know what he is talking about.

  2. Bausch & Lomb binoculars are no more - their Elite models are now the top of the Bushnell line. Among the people (birders) I know who are into high-end binoculars, Nikon and Leica seem to get the most attention, followed by Zeiss and Swarovski. I have heard several people assert that Nikons are the best.

Yes, you're going to pay over $1000 for a top-quality roof prism binocular. Porro prism models are a little less. There are a lot of excellent binoculars in the middle range, say $300 to $500.
