I believe you mean zygocactus. The new leaves on mine are reddish and they mellow into a greener tone as they mature.

Well I would try Googling growth changes of "ziger- cactus"or what ever its called.

I'd take the plant(if in a pot ) and go to the local garden center  to ask for advice ,(or a leaf or 2 if very large)
