Zimbabwe A Tri-Series: Australia A v South Africa A – First Innings Recap
The first innings of the match between Australia A and South Africa A came to a sluggish close after the Australian’s posted a slightly disappointing total of 214 runs with a loss of 9 wickets.
The second game of the Zimbabwe A Tri-Series was being held at the Harare Sports Club on June, 30, 2011.
The match took off after the Australian side won the toss and chose to bat.

Compared to the pair’s performance in the first game against Zimbabwe XI, Finch and Warner provided a decent start to the game until it came to an end in the 11th over.
After being caught behind by the keeper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/HG-Kuhn-c1548, Warner had to exit the pitch. The partnership produced a total score of 52 runs which included 27 from Warner. The batsman ended his innings after 42 minutes of play.
For the South African side, the opening wicket taker was medium pacer http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Christopher-James-Jordan-c50838 Alexander.
Following their first loss, NJ Maddinson made his way to the crease to join Finch in a new partnership.
Maddinson produced a strong performance in his first match after the player scored a successful total of 63 runs.
However for Thursday’s match, Maddinson’s innings came to an end after scoring a single digit of just 8 runs. The player was caught by Kuhn on RK Kleinveldt’s delivery.
As Finch held on to his bat, the fourth player to enter the field was http://www.senore.com/Cricket/CJ-Ferguson-c1264.
Ferguson too could not do much to the total. Compared to his half-century in the first game, the player could add just a single to the Australian total after he was called run out.
The next in order batter, MR http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Simon-James-Marshall-c90362 came in to join Finch.
The two cruised their partnership into the second half of the innings. However, as the game entered the 29th over, medium pacer, Philander finally secured Finch’s wicket.
Finch played a productive innings for his side and left the field with a decent 59 runs total. His aggregate included 3 fours and 1 six.
With 4 wickets lost, Australia had reached a slow total of 118 runs in 28.4 overs.
Next batter, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/TD-Paine-c2652 and Marsh took charge of the pitch. The two managed to bring a halt to their team’s constant wicket loss. Though a slow partnership, however, the pair held on to a 41 runs contribution after Paine’s wicket fell in the 42nd
over of the session.

Marsh and SNJ O’Keefe were the next two wickets secured by bowlers Alexander and Philander respectively.

Compared to the team’s first game, the Australians produced a poor display with the bat against the South Africans.
Throughout the game, the South African bowlers proved to be a strong hurdle for the Australians.
Philander, Kleinveldt, and Alexander all secured 2 wickets each while Ontong managed to get a single one.
