On Tuesday, December 13, 2011 Mountaineers trail by 148 runs with 6 wickets remaining in the 1st innings at stumps on the second day of the ongoing four-day match against Matabeleland Tuskers at Queens Sports Club, Bulawayo.
Earlier, after ending the first day on 75 runs for the loss of one wicket, Tuskers came out to bat their way to domination against their rivals on the second day of the match.
Number-three batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gavin-Ewing-c1472, was the first causality of the day as he lost his wicket after amassing only four runs on the board.
With the skipper back in the pavilion, it was time for left-hand batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Paul-Horton-c2167.
However, before the batsman could craft a serious threat against the rivals, he was removed after playing a meagre innings of three runs. At the time of this wicket, Tuskers were on 90 runs for the loss of three wickets.
Middle-order batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sean-Ervine-c2471, then came out to bat a potent partnership with Horton, as the two batsmen smashed 45 runs in the fourth-wicket partnership.
Medium-pacer http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Donald-Tiripano-c1393, then removed Ervine in the 49th over to break the partnership and prevented the game from getting out of hand. The batsman, found his way back to the pavilion after smashing a knock of 30 runs.
Tuskers then suffered a major blow on the penultimate delivery of the next over, when Horton lost his wicket after clobbering an astounding knock of 50 runs. At the time of his departure, Tuskers had managed to post 135 runs on the board.
After the flamboyant opener, it was Steven Trenchard, who played a resounding innings of 62 runs, to help his side amass 236 runs on the board.
With a decent total ahead of them, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tino-Mawoyo-c2683, lost his wicket on five runs, when the team had managed to post only 15 runs on the board.
Later, Mountaineers lost three more wickets before posting 88 runs at stumps on the second day of play.
