In the ongoing Castle Logan Cup, Mashonaland Eagles beat Southern Rocks by an innings and 89 runs on the second day of the four-day match at Harare Sports Club.
On Tuesday, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Southern-Rocks-c845 began their first innings after having dismissed Mashonaland Eagles on 335 runs a day earlier.
The Rocks required steady knocks from their batsmen to thrash the total posted by the Eagles.
However, Eagles made early inroads by grabbing their first wicket when the batting side had managed to post only two runs on the board.
Opener, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Prince-Masvaure-c82674, was the first causality for the Rocks as he fell after scoring only a run.
Before the batting side could recover from the loss of their opener, Eagles unleashed http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gates-c58585 of h**l on the Rocks as they lost four wickets with only six runs on the board.
Middle-order batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Andrew-Symonds-c44611 Kaia, was the only batsman from his side who managed to stay on the wicket for a while as he played an innings of 26 runs, however, the side fell after amassing 98 runs on the board in 29.4 overs.
Pacer, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kyle-Malcolm-Jarvis-c71974, from Mashonaland Eagles did bulk of the damage, as he grabbed five wickets to incinerate the batting side.
Forced to follow on, Southern Rocks came out to bat again in a bid to post a respectable total this time, however, the batsmen failed yet again as they were up against a formidable bowling attack.
With 19 runs on the board, Rocks lost both their openers and were in a spot of bother once again. They needed their middle-order batsmen to stand fast against the belligerent bowling.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tinashe-Panyangara-c94107 stole their thunder by hammering a stupendous knock of 43 runs in the dying moments of the innings.
The batsman helped his side post 148 runs on the board, which was still not enough to overcome the first innings tally of the Eagles.
Jarvis, again grabbed five wickets as he played an important role in his side’s victory.
