Southern Rocks won their Coca-Cola Pro50 Championship match against Mashonaland Eagles by 11 runs after rain abandoned play, forcing the use of Duckworth–Lewis method (D/L method) at Harare Sports Club on December 10, 2011.
The match was already reduced to 48 overs due to rain prior to the start of the game and after winning the toss, Southern Rocks chose to field first in order to restrict the Eagles batsmen on a low total.
On the other hand, Eagles after being put into bat, knew that they needed to bat sensibly in order to post a daunting total against the rivals.
Openers, Cephas Zhuwao and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tinotenda-Mutombodzi-c2684 batted flamboyantly as they smashed the bowlers all around the park without a hint of any remorse.
The opening duo gave their side a stand of 57 runs, before Mutombodzi was dismissed by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tanyaradzwa-Munyaradzi-c2645 in the 13th over after clobbering 27 runs off 38 deliveries.
With 71 runs on the board, Eagles lost the services of Zhuwao, who found his way back to the pavilion after smashing a belligerent knock of 35 runs.
Later, with 79 runs on the board, the side lost their third wicket, and at this point cracks had started to appear in their batting line-up.
However, middle-order batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Regis-Wiriranai-Chakabva-c84623 crafted a potent resistance against the fielding side and managed to take the score to 132 runs.
The batsmen scored 21 and 31 runs to help their side post a respectable total on the board. In the end, the batting side finally managed to post 178 runs in 46.2 overs.
From Southern Rocks, Munyaradzi, did the most damage as he grabbed four wickets to leave the batting side in ruins.
Coming out to bat, Rocks had an easy total ahead of them and needed to bat their way to victory without taking too many risks.
When the side posted 166 runs for the loss of six wickets, the match was stopped duo to rain and then abandoned giving Rocks an easy win.
