Matabeleland Tuskers 197 v Mountaineers 199 - Mountaineers won by 8 wickets (with 111 balls remaining)
In the ongoing Coca-Cola Pro50 Championship, Mountaineers won their match against Matabeleland Tuskers by eight wickets at Queens Sports Club, Bulawayo on Saturday, December 17, 2011.
After winning the toss, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mountaineers-c818 chose to field first in order to bowl their opponents on a small total in the 50-over match.
On the other hand, Tuskers knew that they needed to bat a massive total on the board to put some pressure on the fielding side.
Tuskers lost their first wicket after posting only 34 runs on the board as opener, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Paul-Horton-c2167, lost his wicket after scoring only six runs off 22 deliveries.
Then in the 10th over, they saw the demise of their second wicket, when Steven Trenchard, found his way back to the pavilion after scoring six runs. At the time of his departure, the side managed to post 53 runs on the board.
Tuskers were beginning to show cracks in their batting line-up when they were three wickets down for only 74 runs on the board.
Star middle-order batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sean-Ervine-c2471, then lost his wicket after scoring just ten runs as they suffered the loss of five wickets on a tally of 101.
Middle-order batsman, Brian Chari, then crafted an impressive partnership with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/CK-Coventry-c1267, as the two batsmen hammered 21 runs in the sixth-wicket-partnership.
Later, Charles Coventry, went on to play another superb partnership with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KO-Meth-c1803 as the batting pair smashed a resilient tally of 46 runs together in the seventh-wicket partnership.
In the end, Tuskers posted 197 runs on the board in 45.1 overs, failing to give Mountaineers a tough total to chase.
From Mountaineers, pacer Tendai Chatara rattled the Tuskers by dismissing five batsmen in 12 overs.
Coming out to bat, Mountaineers had a clean target at hand, and just needed to hold their own while batting against a decent Tuskers bowling attack.
However, they were given a shocking welcome on the field by Tuskers bowlers, as they lost two wickets with only four runs on the board.
Nonetheless, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/H-Masakadza-c1517 and Kevin Kasuza batted their side back in the game as not only did they halt the Tuskers bowling offensive but also steered their side to victory by smashing 195 runs together in the third-wicket partnership, with Masakadza unbeaten on 64 runs and Kasuza on a massive tally of 110 runs.
