Rocks, who came into the match after suffering a defeat by the hands of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mountaineers-c818 just a day earlier, were desperately seeking a win in Thursday’s clash. However, now with this defeat, they stand at the bottom of the pool table with two points to their name after playing four matches.
Meanwhile, Eagles secured a fourth place in the rankings with five points. They played four games and were victorious in only one.
Rocks chose to field first after they won the toss, as they aimed to restrict their opponents on a small total.
The side made early inroads, when on the second delivery of the match, they grabbed their first wicket by dismissing Eagles opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/S-Matsikenyeri-c2395, who walked back to the pavilion without scoring a run.
Then with only 16 runs on the board, Eagles, lost their second wicket as opener Cephas Zhuwao, fell after playing a short knock of 11 runs.
Disaster struck when their third wicket fell with only 30 runs on the board in 6.5 overs. The situation for the batting side was getting out of hand as they needed a solid batting performance from their batsmen to post a daunting total on the board.
It was then, a resilient performance from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/E-Chigumbura-c1411 that paved the way for Eagles to post a tough total on the board. The two batsmen clobbered 45 and 47 runs as they piled 60 runs in the fourth-wicket partnership.
Later, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RN-ten-Doeschate-c2338, joined Chigumbura to post a 34-run partnership as Eagles ended their innings by posting 147 runs on the board.
With a tough total at hand, Rocks needed to keep their own and bat their way to victory by exhibiting a commendable batting performance, however, Eagles bowlers gave a remarkable performance by bowling-out their opponents on 77 runs in 16.2 overs.
