On Saturday, December 03, 2011 Mashonaland Eagles beat Matabeleland Tuskers in the qualifying final match by 23 runs to earn a berth in the final against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mountaineers-c818.
Tuskers won the toss, and chose to field first, aiming to restrict their opposition on a small total.
However, Eagles openers, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RN-ten-Doeschate-c2338 gave their side a solid start by posting 89 runs in the opening partnership.
Tuskers, grabbed their first wicket on the penultimate delivery of the 8th over when Hamilton-Brown fell after scoring 26 runs.
Nathan http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Waller-c95917, then failed to give a commendable show as he lost his wicket after playing a small innings of seven runs.
With two wickets down for 98 runs, Eagles were beginning to lose their grip on the match, however, middle-order batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Peter-Trego-c2181, then provided stability in the middle as he crafted an impressive partnership with Doeschate.
The opener was handling the Tuskers bowlers with zeal and confidence, however, he needed batsmen on the other end to retain their wicket in order for him to help the side post a fighting total.
With 122 runs on the board, Eagles lost their third wicket, when Trego was dismissed after posting 17 runs on the board.
While the rest of the batsmen failed to show colour, Doeschate, smacked an unbeaten knock of 121 runs, and helped his side post 207 runs in 20 overs.
With a daunting total to beat, Tuskers needed their batsmen to give a batting performance of their lives in order to subdue their opponents.
Openers, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/CH-Gayle-c1221 gave their side an opening stand of 67 runs as Gayle raced to 51 runs before losing his wicket on the last delivery of the 8th over.
Tuskers, batsmen were up to speed as they gave a decent performance, which included a nifty knock of 56 runs by Steven Trenchard, however, play was stopped after 18 overs due to bad light when the side was on 162 runs.
Later, after enforcing Duckworth–Lewis method (D/L method), Eagles won the match as the required score was revised to 186 runs in 18 overs.
RN ten Doeschate was named the Man of the Match for his performance with the bat.
