Zimbabwe overcame http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kenya-c752 convincingly by 161 runs in a Group A match of the ICC World Cup 2011 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Sunday.
The Kenyans were bowled out for 147 in reply to Zimbabwe’s 308.
After a solid batting performance against the mighty Australian team, Kenya were expected to do well in their final match of the tournament. However, they did not have a good day and ended their campaign without any success.
Wicketkeeper batsman David Obuya and Alex Obanda started the innings for their team, but the keeper failed to give a good start to his team, as he was dismissed in the very first over without scoring any run.
The first-drop http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Collins-c51521 Obuya had a relatively good tournament compared to his teammates, but was unfortunately run out after scoring just 1 run off 6 balls.
Kenya’s stand-in captain Steve Tikolo, who was probably playing his last World Cup match, looked impressive at the start of his innings. However, the veteran could only manage 10 runs from 14 balls.
Obanda looked good, but he was not able to capitalise on the start he got to his innings. The opening batsman scored 23 runs off 36 balls before getting out. He was followed by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tanmay-Mishra-c92705, who failed to get going. He was out after adding just 4 runs to
the total.
Thomas Odoyo and Rakep Patel gave some hope to the team with a 29-run stand for the sixth wicket, but Odoyo gave his wicket away after scoring 14 runs from 29 balls. Patel was unable to carry onto the start he got, as he was dismissed after adding 24 runs
to the total.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nehemiah-Odhiambo-c79044 batted well for his team, as he scored an unbeaten 44 runs off 47 balls. He ran out of partners from the other end, as whole team was bowled out for 147 in 36 overs.
