Zimbabwe bowled out for 162 against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 in ICC World Cup 2011 match
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750. The minnows were bowled out for 162 in the 47th over of their innings.
Perfect batting conditions forced the Zimbabwean captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Elton-Chigumbura-c55937 to bat first, after winning the toss. However, the African team wasn’t able to take advantage of the good batting conditions.
Zimbabwe were on the back-foot from the start as they lost one of their openers, Charles Coventry, early. The flamboyant opener was run-out without troubling the scorers.
There was a lot of responsibility on veteran opener Brendan Taylor to score runs. He didn’t disappoint his team, as he played well, but there was no support for him from the other end.
Wicketkeeper-batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tatenda-Taibu-c92882 was undone after scoring just eight runs, and his wicket saw a collapse for the team. Craig Ervine struggled for his 11 runs from 25 balls, before he gave his wicket away.
Zimbabwe captain Elton Chigumbura and Regis Chakabva were undone by wily left-arm off-spinner Daniel Vettori. Both batsmen were not able to trouble the bowlers by much, as they were dismissed for one and a duck respectively. In 14.3 overs, the minnows were
at 46 for the loss of 5 wickets. However, Taylor was looking good in the middle. He was the only chance for Zimbabwe to post a decent total at the end of their innings. But the pressure proved too much for Taylor and he was dismissed for 44 runs from 57 balls.
The lower middle-order tried their best to complete 50 overs, but failed to do so. Greg Lamb, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Prosper-Utseya-c82728 and Graeme Cremer got starts, which helped them guide the total over 150. They scored 18, 36 and 22 runs respectively.
Tim Southee was in good form with the ball, as the promising fast bower took three wickets for his team. He got good support from Kyle Mills and Daniel Vettori, who grabbed two wickets each.
Considering the nature of the wicket, Zimbabwe may find them on the losing side after the match ends. However, the minnows have a few good spinners, who can post a threat to the Kiwi batsmen.
