  1. No, we don't rule half the world any longer!

Africa will sort itself out in time, it took us and the rest of Europe long enough.

They were ruled for many years, now they must learn how to rule.

We shouldn't welcome their dictators to summits etc  as long as they are persecuting their people, but we should be allowed to offer aid to the persecuted.

  2. when the zimbabwean people have had enough they will do something with that man.....

  3. It's really tempting to want to intervene.  But a country can't seek, and gain, independence and then, when the going gets rough 20-odd years later expect the former colonial rulers to come to the rescue.  The one country that could deal with Mugabe in hardly any time at all is South Africa, but there's no sign of that happening any time soon.

Until then, I'm afraid that Zimbabwean people will have to deal with the issue largely on their own - just like other countries have dealt with their own internal problems themselves throughout history (including Britain).

  4. We should mind our own business.

  5. We should mind our own business!Let Africa sort out Africa's problems!!

  6. You have got it in one. You can never oust a dictator.

  7. What Private says is rubbish. Mugabe is a Thief of his countrys money and a mass murderer with gallons of blood on his hands.

  8. Forget Zimbabwe its a black country now

  9. its time Britain minded its own business. there is a recession looming ahead. we need to pull back all troops, freeze all aid and donations, close our borders and take care of our own. this would also be an ideal opportunity to re build our transport infrastructure IE: canals and railways. because we must pull away from our dependence on oil. it simply gives other nations a tool to bring us to our knees. it seems to me that this country is incapable of forsight.

  10. They will eventually get round to doing themselves. I wouldn't want to be in his shoes when they do.

  11. Mugabe simply presides over a country doomed to failure. He is simply a scapegoat of the blacks and the leftists who cant accept the inevitable disaster of black independence.

Though I accept that Mugabe is not an idylic leader by western standards, its horses for courses.White Europeans have ethics peculiar to themselves just as certain behaviour is inherent in black Africans.

Tribal rivalry and backward thinking are the predisposition of the black African.

All former white colonies have reverted to or are heading towards savagery.

The starving, diseased and warring nations of Africa should ask Britian to rule them again. No war, everyone fed, full employment, medicine, government ,law and order.

Anyone who disagrees with my post should read the histories of all former white colonies in Africa, including South Africa which began its decent into economic crisis as soon as the white government was ousted. The much acclaimed Mandela was impotent to prevent the rot and subsequent rulers fared no better.Dont take my word for it,the information is freely available on the net.

  12. I answered this question 3 months ago.

Zim used to be the market garden of Africa. They wanted Independence and they got it also got the whites out.

Why should we bother now that they have let one of their own become a dictator. They will eventually give him the heave oh and perhaps get back to feeding Africa again. ( I doubt it)

    But I live in hope.

  13. It is best if Africa manages African affairs, but the West and UN is right to put pressure on Zim and SADC to act democratically and humanely.

But what can the West do but offer support? Mugabe/ZANU-PF are waging a paranoid war on the West by attacking Zimbabweans they fear will broker deals with the West, and sell out the country. The West has every right to support a government which they approve of, and to withdraw support from one it doesn't. The West is right to withdraw aid from a government which uses the aid as political leverage -- starving those who do not support them, and rewarding those who do.

Zimbabweans should overthrow Mugabe, or form a new country (Matabeleland would be ideal) and leave Zimbabwe to ZANU-PF and their supporters. SADC should lead the action, if it hasn't lost all ability to do so.

  14. Shut Up

  15. Don't really think that there is a lot we could do to oust this despot, our western governments are not interested in the abuses of human rights in his country as they do not have oil, and they certainly have no weapons of mass destruction or he would have already used them on his own people, unlike Iraq!

What I do not understand is this pillocks freedom to travel wherever he sees fit, and to be treated as a head of state.

We cannot impose sanctions on his country because in this case it would certainly harm the populace, however we should be stating that if he ever steps foot in our country, then he will be arrested for crimes against his people.

We should make it that, although he has made himself extremely rich, we could and should make it difficult for him to benefit from those riches, inclusive of any medical care!

  16. There are good reasons why the West doesn't do this.

The Zimbabwe opposition is not in a position to simply take power. You could take out Mugabe tomorrow: Just send a UAV in and fire a missile at him while he's sitting on the can, kill him stone dead. But his cronies are so embedded in the system that all that you would get would be his second in command taking charge. And the first thing that he would do wold be to round up all of the opposition supporter and shoot them.

The only way to oust a guy like Mugabe is to make the situation right for a local leader to take over, and that takes time time time.
