Zimbabwe no longer a prospective venue for Pakistan - http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 series
The option of using Zimbabwe as a neutral venue for the upcoming series between Pakistan and Sri Lanka has been completely ruled out by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) due to the high costs involved.
Initially, the PCB announced to hold the series in Zimbabwe and Abu Dhabi but backtracked later due to financial issues.
Now the board intends to move the venue to Sri Lanka for Tests and Abu Dhabi for the limited-over games.
A board official revealed today, “The costs are a big factor in the board deciding on neutral venues for its home series like the one against Sri Lanka. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045 was a high cost option.”
He further elaborated, “Chances are that the Tests may be played in Sri Lanka and the limited over matches in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.”
As per the International Cricket Council’s future tours programme, the series was scheduled to be held in Pakistan but Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) refused to visit the country due to severe security concerns.
