Zimbabwe marked their first impressive Test win after six years of exile from the format, offering a 130 runs defeat to the visiting Bangladesh side, at the team’s home turf, Harare Sports Club, on Monday, 08 August 2011.
Thanks to the team’s much impressive bowling line-up, the hosts managed to steamroll the Bangladeshi tourists on the final day of the one off Test fixture, as an opening fixture from team’s Tour to Zimbabwe.
With just a few deliveries following the lunch break, it took no time for the Zimbabwe bowlers to eliminate the remaining Bangladeshi batting roster, primarily through the hands of pacers http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kyle-Malcolm-Jarvis-c71974.
However, as the procession went on, Bangladeshi batsmen did offer a fair batting display which primarily came from impressive http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Abdur-Razzak-c41688’s batting innings, earning a 43 runs for the team. As for the eventual order, the players went on with the session
despite producing some careless shots. As for the highlight bowlers for the match, the players spared none of the opponents on the crease, and went on to deliver an exceptional performance paving an eventual, yet a landmark win for the team.
What came in contrast, with the close of the fourth day, Bangladeshi player Tamim Iqbal cited the Vitori and Jarvis pair as ‘ordinary’. However, it was the duo that commanded the Zimbabwean bowling attack on the final day of the fixture, offering the primary
damage to the batting side, through an assortment of some notable and useful deliveries.
While the Zimbabwean bowlers did much of the damage, some fair performances did come from Bangladesh as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mushfiqur-Rahim-c2045 managed to deliver their best on the crease, but eventually failed to do much with the bat.
With the close of the fixture, Jarvis remained as the highest wicket with a 4 wickets haul, followed by Mpofu with 3, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/E-Chigumbura-c1411 with 2 and Vitori with a single.
On the other hand, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tamim-Iqbal-c2640 and Abdur Razzak, both offering a disappointing dismissal after making their return with 7 runs short of a half century.
