Zimbabwe struggle to reach 87 for 6 after 25 overs against New Zealand - ICC World Cup 2011
Zimbabwe were struggling against New Zealand in their Group A match of the ICC World Cup 2011 at the end of 25 overs in Ahmedabad. The African team managed just 87 runs for the loss of six wickets half way through their innings.
Zimbabwe Captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Elton-Chigumbura-c55937 won the toss and elected to bat first. The conditions were good for batting, and there wasn’t much assistance for the bowlers in the wicket. However, the Zimbabwean batsmen threw their wickets away carelessly.
Brendan Taylor and Charles Coventry opened the innings for their team, but the start was dismal. Coventry tried to sneak a quick single, but some sharp fielding from Hamish Bennett resulted in a run-out. The flamboyant opener was out without adding any run
to the total.

a straight ball from Tim Southee in today’s match after scoring just eight runs.

He missed out on a half-century, as he was dismissed after scoring 44 runs from 57 balls.
Things weren’t looking very bright for the Africans at the end of 25 overs. However, they will be hoping that Greg Lamb and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Prosper-Utseya-c82728 can steady the ship for their team. Lamb was looking good on 17 whereas; Utseya was unbeaten on one.
The Kiwi team will look to bowl-out their opponents within 100 runs. Vettori was the pick of the bowlers, as he took two wickets. He also got some good support from Scott Styris, Southee and Kyle http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mills-c76321, who grabbed one wicket each.
