http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045 who re-entered Test cricket after a span of nearly six years had a fantastic first day’s play as the batsmen who were probably playing test cricket for the first time in the international arena showed immense talent and valour.
Meanwhile, the weather was considerably cold for Bangladesh who do not have much experience of playing under the African conditions.
In almost a deserted cricket ground, the home side gave an impressive performance against the Bangladeshi bowlers right from the word go as openers http://www.senore.com/Cricket/V-Sibanda-c2740 pulverised the opposition by exhibiting fantastic shots all around the park.
Zimbabwe under the leadership of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/BRM-Taylor-c1200 decided to wreak havoc on the tourists as in the second over the team raced to seven runs after failing to score in the first over of their innings.
Mawoyo then took the sting out of the Bangladesh bowling when he smacked four glorious boundaries in the fourth over bowled by pacer http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Robiul-Islam-c86349 who was taken aback by the robust batting of the Zimbabwean opener who read the pitch well and decided to give
the bowler a http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Adrian-Roger-Kirshaw-Pierson-c42135, taking the confidence right out of Robiul.
In the 10th over, it was then Sibanda’s turn to shine as he clobbered two boundaries off http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rubel-Hossain-c2378, showing complete confidence in his abilities.
With both openers playing freely, Bangladesh were feeling the heat as they knew that they needed to take wickets to climb back in the game otherwise they would get blown away by the hosts.
However, all efforts from Bangladesh went in vain as the bowlers were made to look impotent by the Zimbabwean batsmen, who were just too good to be humbled by Bangladesh.
Watching his bowlers being swooped away by the batsmen, the Bangladesh skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shakib-Al-Hasan-c2492 was left with no option but to come to bowl himself as the genuine bowlers failed to get him the much needed breakthrough. However, he also went wicket less as
the hosts strengthened their grip on the game by posting 88 runs on the board at the end of 25 overs.
It was finally in the 30th over when Bangladesh got their first wicket by dismissing Mawoyo, who was caught at cover by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mahmudullah-c1877 off the bowling of Rubel Hossain after batting an innings of 43 runs off 76 deliveries. At the time of his departure,
Zimbabwe had scored 102 runs.
Bangladesh’s next happy moment came on the second delivery of the 49th over when Hossain tempted the batsman to do after a wide delivery which caught an edge off the bat of Sibanda and was grabbed by the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mushfiqur-Rahim-c2045.
The batsman walked back to the pavilion after playing a well tamed innings of 78 runs off 153 deliveries.
It was then http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Taylor-c92915 batted 40 runs off 108 deliveries
as the batsmen took the tally to 264 runs at stumps.
