Zimbabwe v Bangladesh – Test Series- 3rd Day’s Summary
Zimbabwe 370 & 92/4 (34.3 ov) v Bangladesh 287 - http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045 lead by 175 runs with 6 wickets remaining
After ending the second day of the Test against hosts Zimbabwe on 107 runs for the loss of three wickets, Bangladesh began proceedings on the third day at Harare Sports Club aiming to overcome the trail of 263 runs.
From Bangladesh, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mahmudullah-c1877 took the crease as they remained unbeaten at the close of the second day’s play by showing extreme composure aiming to stay on the wicket for as long as possible.
After the duo had managed to take the tally to 136 runs, the partnership was finally broken when Mahmudullah, after playing a knock of 13 runs off 35 deliveries mistimed a shot towards square-leg which was easily caught by Tino Mawoyo off the bowling of
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Brian-Vitori-c1198.
It was then time for the Bangladesh skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shakib-Al-Hasan-c89559 to take the field as he forged a stiff resistance against the hosts alongside Mohammad Ashraful. Both batsmen showed good knick with the bat and smacked the Zimbabwean bowlers at will.
However, they failed to continue their batting onslaught as the partnership which was beginning to threaten the hosts was broken after the tourists had rallied 190 runs on the board. It was Mohammad Ashraful who lost his wicket after playing an inspirational
innings of 73 runs off 158 deliveries when he was caught behind by the Zimbabwean wicketkeeper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/E-Chigumbura-c1411.
Nonetheless, Shakib Al http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hasan-c61990 continued the batting onslaught without giving the bowlers a sigh of relief; however, he needed batsmen on the other end to hold their own in order to overcome the massive tally posted by Zimbabwe.
The 22-year-old http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mushfiqur-Rahim-c2045 provided a commendable support to his skipper by retaining his wicket against the bowlers who had focussed their energies into getting him out, hoping to annihilate the batting line-up from the other end which would
leave Shakib Al Hasan without a partner to bat with.
After playing a superb innings of 68 runs off 88 deliveries, the captain departed by giving an edge to wicketkeeper Taibu off the bowling of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/CB-Mpofu-c1219. At the time of the batsman’s departure, the tourists had managed to post 246 runs on the board with
six wickets down.
It was a sorry tale for the remaining batsmen as the Bangladesh tail did not have the sting to counter the Zimbabwean bowling onslaught due to which the whole team fell after posting 287 runs on the board.
Coming out to bat in the second innings, the hosts aimed to take a lead in the match by scoring quickly and then giving the tourists a chance to bat on the last day as the Zimbabwean batsmen once again showed great resolve while facing the Bangladesh bowlers.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 as the
middle-order batting line-up was strangled by magnificent bowling which resulted in the wickets of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/H-Masakadza-c1517 and Raymond William Price in back to back overs as Zimbabwe ended the day after posting 92 runs on the board for the loss of four wickets.
