New Zealand batters have pile up a modest total of 114 runs with a loss of 3 wickets, after a play worth 25 overs, at the 3rd and final One Day International (ODI) outing against the Zimbabwean hosts, at the Queens Sports Club, Bulawayo, on October
25, 2011.
Having already marked two opening wins at the proceeding 3-match series against the Rhodesians, the Kiwi Skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RJ-Nicol-c2331
and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Njabulo-Ncube-c79773.
Unfortunately for the batting side, New Zealand suffered an early wicket after Watling fell short of the crease in a mismanaged run attempt with Nicol.
The wicket fell in the innings’ opening over, owned by Ncube, after Watling departed for the pavilion, leaving one down wicket-keeper batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/BB-McCullum-c1129 to accompany Nicol.
The newly formed pair managed to swiftly recoup from the loss and managed to stabilise the side’s innings, but to their despair, failed to retain a partnership after the Rhodesian debutant marked another Kiwi wicket, sending off Nicol on a minor tally of
14 runs.
Offering a limited stint at the Bulawayo pitch, Nicol was caught out by Zimbabwean fielder, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/V-Sibanda-c2740 on Ncube’s well constructed delivery in the opening session’s 6th over.
However, for the much hyped new-comer, more flourish came after he trailed on to offering more damage on the New Zealand line-up, forcing McCullum to exit the crease in his following over, and 8th of the innings.
By the time, the Kiwis lost their 3rd wicket, the batting side had gathered 41 runs in 7.1 overs, with Skipper Ross, in association with hard-hitter http://www.senore.com/Cricket/JD-Ryder-c1679, taking charge of the crease.
The duo managed to finally bring a halt to the side’s wicket loss and went on to stall the side’s innings for some good overs, after the Kiwis brought a closure to their innings’ first-half, batting a moderate total of 114 runs in 25 overs, after suffering
a loss of 3 wickets.
