Zimbabwe v New Zealand – Only Test – 15 overs Update
The Kiwis have managed to reach the 50 runs mark in 15 overs, having lost http://www.senore.com/Cricket/BB-McCullum-c1129’s early wicket at the proceeding one-off Test outing against the Zimbabwean hosts, on November 1, 2011, at the Queens Sports Club, in Bulawayo.
The only 4-day fixture of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/LRPL-Taylor-c1849, won the toss and opted to bat first – hoping to make a good use of the team’s appreciation of the Bulawayo pitch; having already served a worthy
stint at the venue.
Forced into fielding first, the Rhodesian bowling attack came out with the new ball pair of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-Guptill-c1980 and Brendon McCullum.
Offering a typical Test start for the visiting squad, the Kiwi batting pair began their stint through some steady batting performance, with the Zimbabwean pacers exchanging overs right till the tenth over.
Unfortunately for the batting side, New Zealand suffered its first blow on the line-up after the Rhodesian pacer, Jarvis, managed to mark McCullum’s timber, forcing the player to depart for the pavilion.
The loss came in 10.4 over, when New Zealand had managed to score a modest total of 40 runs, while for the dismissed batsman, McCullum made his long walk after adding 14 runs to the total off 27 deliveries, leaving one down batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KS-Williamson-c1813 to accompany
Guptill, who by now had managed to settled in, retaining his ground at an undefeated 20.
As for the newly formed pair, Williamson, who batted an undefeated century during his team’s final defeated One Day International (ODI) game against the Zimbabweans, took no time to form a worthy association with Guptill, after the duo managed to swiftly
recover from the side’s first loss.
Retaining the crawling run rate, Williamson and Guptill, finally managed to lead the team till the 15 overs mark, scoring 50 runs with a loss of a single wicket.
By now, Williamson held his undefeated contribution of 7 runs, while Guptill on a decent score of 23 runs.
On the other hand, team Zimbabwe had already brought in a first change on the side’s bowling line-up, bringing in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/CB-Mpofu-c1219 in place of Jarvis.
