http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754: Only Test at Bulawayo, Day 2 – Second Session Report
In their first innings, New Zealand have amassed an imposing total of 426 at tea on the second day of the one-off Test against Zimbabwe at Queens Sports Club, Bulawayo, on Wednesday, November 2, 2011.
By displaying a superb show with the ball, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/CB-Mpofu-c1219 and Ray Price ensured that the Black Caps made just 99 runs for the loss of five wickets in the second session.
The Kiwis were in a strong position at the end of the first session, as their score was 327/5. The former skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Dean-Brownlie-c1349 started off the middle session aggressively, but Price struck early before Mpofu wiped off the tale-enders.
Brownlie was the first man to go after the lunch. He batted beautifully in the morning session but failed to continue, losing his wicket after scoring a steady 63.
After his departure, it was Vettori’s responsibility to save one end while collecting as much runs as he can. However, he could not come up to the expectations and gave away his wicket after a few overs.
The veteran all-rounder became Mpofu’s victim after clattering 40 runs during his stay at the crease.  After the fall of two well settled batsmen, nobody from the lower order could resist against Zimbabwe’s sharp bowling.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/CS-Martin-c1295 went back to the pavilion without troubling the scorecard. As a result of complete failure by the lower order, the Kiwis went all out on 426 after 143.3 overs. The hero of the innings was
Martil Guptill who smashed a wonderful hundred at the opening position and set a strong platform for the rest of the crew.
From the Zimbabwean bowling unit, Mpofu was the most successful bowler, as he nabbed four for 92. Price also bowled outstandingly but grabbed two less wickets than the fast bowler. Meanwhile, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/H-Masakadza-c1517 left the field
with a scalp each to their name.
In reply to New Zealand’s gigantic total of 426, the Rhodesians will have to take a good start in order to reach anything over the 400-mark. However, it will be a tough outing for the home team, as the Black Caps have a strong bowling attack.
