Zimbabwe put up a great fight against Pakistan in the first game of three match ODI series but despite all their pains they came out second. The match that was played at Queens Sports Club, Bulawayo, saw the visitors steal a victory by five runs.

Lamenting the loss to Green shirts, Taylor said, “We let is slip in that second-last over. Credit to Pakistan, they held their nerve a little bit better than us. over all a pretty good game. We will hold our heads high, and take positives. Me not getting out would have been nice. Vusi was also going nice. But it's the game of cricket for you. Credit to them.”

The skipper of Pakistan felt that his side could have score more and said, “We were 20-30 runs short. On crucial stages, we kept losing wickets. That's why they restricted us.”

Though there were some good partnerships to follow, the African side was always lagging behind the required run rate and despite some slogging by the fifth and sixth-wicket stands, they could only muster 242.
The African side has a two day lay-off before they host Pakistan again for the second ODI game to be played at Harare Sports Club.
