Zimbabwe v Pakistan: One-off Test Match – Pakistani bowlers to watch out for
Following a fair break from Test cricket, team Pakistan is finally all geared up to face the Zimbabwean hosts in the upcoming one-off Test fixture, scheduled to kick off on Thursday, September 1, 2011, at the Queens Sports Club, Bulawayo.
The match comes as an opening spell to Pakistan’s Tour to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045, which is also set to include 3 One Day International (ODI) matches followed by a couple of Twenty20 games.
Following a stern overhauling phase on the team, skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972 will now bank on the team’s much capable bowlers, who may look onto delivering some early knocks on the Zimbabwean batting line-up.
The hosts may need to keep an eye open for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sohail-Tanvir-c90665.
Junaid Khan
21-year-old Junaid Khan opens up the roster as an upcoming star for the team, following an exceptional bowling performance during his debut games.
Although http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Khan-c71319 has not yet played an International Test match, the player is expected to come out with a potent bowling performance for his premier bout for the format.
As for his cricketing profile, Khan marked his One Day International (ODI) debut earlier this year, during Pakistan’s tour to the Caribbean.
From a minute ODI profile worth 7 matches, Khan secured a total of 9 wickets including his best performance worth 4 for 12.
Mohammad Hafeez
Spin maestro, Mohammad Hafeez, stands out as a potential threat for the Zimabwean batters. The all round Pakistani talent has been delivering an exceptional performance with the ball during the previous few seasons, especially, the recent 2011 International
Cricket Council (http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625) Cricket World Cup.
Hafeez made his debut Test performance in 2003 against the Bangladeshi tourists in Karachi, where the off break bowler earned a mediocre single wicket. Since then, the Pakistani star player has served his team in 17 Test matches, out of which managed to
secure 14 wickets including his best innings performance of 3 for 23.
Saeed Ajmal
Saeed Ajmal comes in as another potent spinner on the Pakistani squad, and has always served as a potential threat for the opponent alongside Hafeez as a forceful ‘spinning duo’.
Ajmal came out with an exceptional bowling performance during the 2nd Test match against the West Indian hosts. From the match, where Pakistan marked its eventual win, the off break bowler earned a notable bag of 6 wickets; earning 3 from each
of two innings.
Ajmal’s Test cricket’s premier came in 2009 against the Sri Lankan hosts at Galle. Since the player’s debut, Ajmal has, till now, played for Pakistan in 11 matches, earning a notable aggregate of 50 wickets including an exceptional performance of 6 for 42.
Sohail Tanvir
Following a four years of exile from Test cricket, Sohail Tanvir may have been a relieved man following his eventual call up on the squad for Pakistan’s Tour to Zimbabwe.
Since his last appearance in the Test match, Tanvir holds a minor Test profile, since the left-arm bowler pursued a more flourishing career in domestic cricket.
Tanvir’s Test debut came in November 2007 against the archrivals, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750. During the opening innings of the match, Tanvir went on to mark his first ever Test wicket haul worth 3 wickets.
