Zimbabwe versus South Africa, bowlers to watch out for in 3rd ODI
In the ongoing series between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757, batsmen from both the sides have completely dominated the scene as they have taken full advantage of batting friendly wickets.
Apart from that, there has been few quality bowling performances, which have swung the game in favour of their respective teams. Credit should be given to bowlers, who have still managed to prove their worth on the batting paradises of South Africa in the
ongoing series.
Bettor.com takes a look at the current bowling resources of both the teams. There are few high class young bowlers, who will make an impact in the 3rd One-day international.
Rusty Theron
Rusty Theron is a seam bowler as he hits the deck hard to extract any kind of available movement off the pitch. The seamer from the Eastern Cape is picked to play for the national team because of his quality death bowling. Theron mixes his length very well
in the later part of the innings.
He doesn’t complicate things as he bowls straight and most of the time bowls the odd Yorker and the slower delivery. His performance in the Standard Bank Pro20, earned him a call-up at the national level to display his show against Zimbabwe. So far, he has
done well.
In the first match the bowlers had the backing of a huge target of 351 runs so they didn’t have to work hard. Rusty was the pick of the seamers from both sides, though he went for 62 runs in his quota of ten overs, he still managed to take 3 important wickets
in the middle overs, which in the end proved profitable as the opposition fell short of 64 runs.
Furthermore, the 2nd affair at Potchefstroom was a memorable one for the right hander as he contained the Zimbabwean top and middle order to just 267 on a batting paradise, scalping 5/44 in 8.2 overs. Theron, with his maiden five-wicket-haul has
proved to the national selectors that he is good enough to compete at the highest level.
As the right-arm bowler will be high in confidence, he will be making full use of his opportunity in the 3rd ODI.
Wayne Parnell
Wayne Parnell has proved himself as a high class, young left-arm fast bowler. Parnell swings the ball away from the right hander and in helpful conditions he can swing it in. His ability to swing the ball is backed by a quick arm action and extra pace.
His ability to ball Yorkers and slower balls at will has made him the best bowlers at death in the current South African team. In addition, the rotation of his arm is so fast that it makes life difficult for the late order hitters to slog him.
As he has made a come-back from injury it will take time to find his rhythm in the current series against Zimbabwean’s. The left-armer adds a variety to his teams attack.
In the first game against the touring team, Wayne didn’t have a good day with the ball as he went for 59 runs in his 10 overs with a single wicket to his name. It was the total of 351 runs that didn’t expose his figures to much extent.
The 2nd battle was a better one for him in terms of wicket, but not the economy rate. In his spell of 8 overs he went for 52 runs, gathering 2 important wickets. His strikes in the middle overs restricted the opponents to a modest total of 267
runs, considering the nature of the pitch.
As expected, Parnell looked good in the 2nd outing with his line and direction. He is on the right path, and by the passage of time he will get more bowling under his belt to get better and better.
The left-arm quick bowler will be eyeing the third contest to rattle his enemies.
