Zimbabwe vs. Bangladesh - Tigers lead the series as the fourth ODI abandoned due to rain
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045 were seeking to tie the One Day series against Bangladesh in the fourth ODI in Chittagong but the heavens opened up and lashed out to arrest another day of cricket.
Persistent rains in the south-eastern of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 have left the outfield wet and it was unlikely that play could start in the morning. The morning turned into a drizzly affair as the sun was nowhere in sight, leaving the covers
wet. The groundskeeper’s efforts were not enough to prevent the outfield from being soggy.
As the drizzle decided to settle in, the umpires went to inspect the pitch, however the ground was still unplayable.
At 10:35 local time, the weather seemed to be clearing and the pitch, inspected by the umpires seemed fine, however, the moisture has left the field soggy.
The hope of beginning the match was slashed when the light drizzle was overpowered by dark clouds over the Zohur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium where the match was scheduled to play.
The stadium which is one the venues of the World Cup had installed new screens that were to be tested in today’s match, however, the rains have been affecting and delaying the progress of work in Chittagong. The drainage system
which is under-construction at the stadium did not help either as the match was officially called off by 12:45 pm local time.
Bangladesh is now sitting comfortable as they were already leading the series 2-1 and with the abandoned match, the Tigers cannot lose the series. However, the touring party needs to win the last ODI in the hopes of a drawn series.
Zimbabwe started off the One Day series on a high, claiming a nail-biting victory over the Tigers camp when they won by nine wickets. However, Bangladesh bounced back with reluctant Captain Shakib Al http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hasan-c61990 leading the camp to victories
in the second and third ODI.
The fifth ODI will be played on Sunday, 12th December at Chittagong with no rains predicted for Sunday. However, heavy rains are predicted for Saturday which might scupper Zimbabwe’s chances of squaring the series.
