The France legend has hailed the qualities of the 24-year-old striker and has backed him to find his best form for Les Bleus
The Real Madrid hitman has been struggling at the international arena for quite a while, and he once again failed to find the back of the net in France’s opening game of the 2014 World Cup campaign against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Finland-c2898.
While many have criticised Benzema for his lacklustre performances in recent months, former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 captain, Zinedine Zidane has backed the French striker.
The 40-year-old believes that his countryman is just going through a rough patch, and it’s unfair to criticise him like that.
Zidane added that everyone knows that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Karim-Benzema-c20350 is a world class player, who has a lot of potential, and it’s only a matter of time before he hits top form.
"Benzema still has to hit top form and be on top of his game again, but the entire world knows that he is a great player."               
Real Madrid boss, Jose Mourinho has often preferred Higuain over Benzema for a place in his starting eleven. However, Zidane, who played for the Spanish giants from 2001 to 2006, believes that the 24-year-old has the potential to become a top performer,
both for club and country.
"I just know that it won't be long before he fulfils his full potential at last, both for Real Madrid and for France," the former Bordeaux player told reporters.
Zinedine Zidane, who was named UEFA Champions League Best Player of the Past 20 Years in 2011, has also backed Didier Deschamps to help Les Bleus become a force to reckon once more in the footballing world.
While talking to reporters, the former Juventus player expressed his delight at France’s 1-0 victory over Finland. The 40-year-old added that the coach needs more time with the side and he is on the right direction.
"It was a good game for France in my opinion simply because they bagged the full three points. The coach needs a bit of time to find the best solutions for everything."
France take on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Belarus-c2849 in their next match of the World Cup qualifying campaign.
