Zinedine Zidane hopeful France coach Laurent Blanc stays with the national side
Former France International, Zinedine Zidane, has said that he hopes Laurent Blanc stays as the coach of the France national side and is hopeful that his former teammate won’t resign from the post.
Blanc has come under a lot of scrutiny in the past few days for his alleged role in the plans of the France Football Federation to limit the number of dual nationals playing in the France national side. It has been reported that Laurent Blanc is ready to
throw the towel and walk away from his position as the manager of Les Bleus.
While talking to the media, Zidane said, "He definitely shouldn't resign as national team coach. But I can assure you that this situation hurts him a lot. I think that he made a great start as France coach and he's working on a great project," before adding
that Blanc is not a racist and would never be part of anything of such matter.
The French football federation has denied rumours that the France 98 World Cup winner might step down as the coach, however, Laurent Blanc is yet to comment on the speculations.
Chief press officer of FFF, Philippe Tournon, said that he spoke with Blanc on the telephone and added, "We spoke about him coming to Paris for the hearing and about what could happen afterwards. But at no time did we speak about the [resignation]."
According to reports in newspaper ‘Ouest France’, French President Nicolas Sarkozy will call the 45-year-old Frenchman in a bid to have Blanc reconsider his stance. The former Bordeaux manager has done a lot of work in order to rebuild Les Bleus after a
dismal showing in last year’s FIFA World Cup in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 failed to make it past the group stages.
Allegations suggest that the FFF is considering introducing a quota system in the football setup in France that would limit the number of dual nationals playing for the national side. Currently, France has the most number of dual nationals playing for the
national side. The recent rumours have already angered many supporters, leading to speculations that Blanc might quit the national team as he has insisted that he has no part in the scandal.
