Zinedine Zidane ready to help Real Madrid claim success
Real Madrid legend Zinedine Zidane says that he is ready to help the Spanish giants reach new heights of success.
The former France international has rejoined the Bernabeu outfit as a presidential advisor to the first team.
Madrid are currently at the top of the La Liga standings and have qualified for the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League with two games to spare, but Zidane believes that the knowledge and experience he has gained from many years at the top level
of football will help inspire head coach Jose Mourinho's players to become a dominant force on the global stage.
In an interview with Madrid's official website, he said, "I will have a close relationship with the squad. I will travel to Champions League matches with the team. That is where we will start. We are taking one step at a time. I will be with the team at
(the training complex near) Valdebebas on a daily basis.
"We will slowly define my duties, but what is important is that I will have a close relationship with the team. It will serve me well, because the perspective I have of watching training sessions as an outsider is different to that I had as a player."
"(Mourinho) wanted me to have this job. And today is the day. We will later speak about what I can contribute. We discussed what Real Madrid is all about and what this club means. He has done a good job since taking over as head coach and he doesn’t need
much help."
Zidane will hope to guide Madrid's stars to glory using his own experience as a player with the club between 2001 and 2006.
The retired midfielder helped Madrid to win La Liga in the 2002-03 season, the Spanish Supercup twice and the 2001-02 Champions League, where he scored the winning goal in the final at Hampden Park, as well as the UEFA Super Cup and Intercontinental Cup.
