Question:

Zip Files?

I have about 18 gbs of .mp3 files on my computer and want to transfer it to my laptop. But I only have a 2gb flash drive. I was wondering how many gb's of .mp3 files would compress into a 2gb zip file?

And would anyone else know if the music on your iTunes is stored into a certain iTune named folder that I could just copy it all?

  1. It would be pretty pointless to try to zip them.  .mp3s are pretty compressed to begin with, zipping them won't make them much smaller.

If you are transferring iTunes music, I'm not sure if their DRM allows this.  Either check with apple, or test with one file first.

Moving them with a 2GB drive would be rather slow.  A better option would be to move them by attaching both computers to a switch (found in the back of your router) or hub.

  2. i'm not sure about your first question.

but for the second question, yes there is a folder.

you have to look for it in your computer

    use search

  3. why use zip?

just move your mp3 files to your flash until its full filled, them move it to your laptop, then repeat until all of your mp3 is moved to your laptop. don't worry it's faster and more than zip first.

    ---or----

    download winrar first:

    http://www.win-rar.com/download.html

    install it on your computer...

make sure your drive space is up to 2x of your mp3s (there need approx 18 gbs more for zip/rar file

select all of your MP3s then right click on it then select "add to archive..."

-archive name (like save as...) click browse for different folder

    -archive format > RAR

    -compression method > best

-split to volumes, bytes > 1500000000 (1,5 gb enought for your flash)

    -press ok

then copy the compressed file one by one to your laptop via flash

untill all of files is in your laptop.

install winrar in your laptop.. and

right click on the compressed files on your laptop, select extract files...

    select location, press ok...

    DONE...
