Zlatan Ibrahimovic could become the world’s highest paid player
Zlatan Ibrahimovic may be on his way to becoming the highest paid player in the world after news broke that cash-injected Manchester City have expressed there interest in securing the striker by putting a four-year-deal worth a mouth-watering £96million on the table.
The 28-year-old currently earns around 11million euros a year at Barcelona, and if he were to accept the move to join Roberto Mancini’s blue army, it would see his salary rise to a staggering £24million a year.
Ibrahimovic has had his fair share of problems at Nou Camp after falling out with Barca coach Pep Guardiola after criticizing his style of play.
The fall out between the two has also resulted in fewer regular starts for the Swede, but a move to City would mean the opportunity to play regular football and become a key player to the club rather than just a wild card.
A source close to Ibrahimovic said in The Sun: "City have shown how much they want Zlatan and although he is well paid at Barcelona this offer is in a different league.
"It has given him plenty to think about especially when he is not so happy with his football at Barca.
"The idea of being part of a move to create a new super club to challenge the very best in Europe is also attractive.
"City have to agree a deal with Barcelona before this can go any further - but there's a feeling that could all happen fairly quickly now."
