Zlatan Ibrahimovic may be rested for Chievo clash to be fit for Real Madrid
AC Milan forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic may be rested for Chievo clash in a bid to ensure that he will be fully fit for the UEFA Champions League match against Real Madrid on Tuesday, October 19.
The Sweden striker has been suffering from a stomach complaint and is already doubtful for the match against Chievo on Saturday.
With his fitness a concern, the 29-year-old revealed that he will discuss his situation with Milan’s medical staff and may opt to sit out of the Serie A clash in order to feature in the more glamorous European tie.
"I've had stomach cramps and haven't been able to train, so I will reconsider whether I can play against Chievo. The Champions League is more important and I want to be 100 percent for the game against Real Madrid. I will talk to the medical team and will
do what is best for me."
Linked up well with Brazilians
Ibra, who joined Milan from Barcelona on a loan-to-buy deal over the summer, has been in good form for the Italian giants, having linked up well with the club’s Brazilian trio of attackers Robson de Souza (‘Robinho’), Alexandre Pato and Ronaldo de Assis
Moreira (‘Ronaldinho’) to score two goals from seven league games so far this season.
If Ibra is rested for the Chievo clash, Milan head coach Massimiliano Allegri may opt to field Robinho and Pato, who teamed up in attack for their country during the international break. Pato has only played three league games for Milan this season, but
already has two goals to his name. Robinho is yet to get off the mark, but has earned plaudits for his high work rate.
Milan is currently sitting in fourth place in the table. They are tied with Inter Milan and Napoli on 11 points, two behind leaders Lazio.
