Zlatan Ibrahimovic offers himself to Inter Milan
Questions are being raised as to how much longer Ibrahimovic would stay at Barcelona. There are rumours going around Europe stating that the player is currently holding secret talks with the Italian club.
There have been numerous denials from Ibrahimovic, Guardiola and Milan over the possibility of a transfer. However, despite all of those denials, the Catalan press have managed to report that the players’ agent Mino Raiola has been in constant contact with Milan. He has apparently been in secret contact with AC Milan’s President Silvio Berlusconi. He had denied all rumours of any deal being struck between the two clubs over the player.
However it appears that the emergence of David Villa at the club has caused Ibrahimovic to be more concerned about his future at the club. He also feels it would be close to impossible for him to start at the Camp Nou ever since the World Cup winner and Spanish goal scoring sensation arrived at the club. This was all despite the fact that the player was promised a position on the pitch by the manager.
Apparently, the idea of playing for Milan has started to appeal more to the player as the days go by. This is because he feels Milan is ready to give his former team Inter Milan a run for their money. Milan has proved that they are an overly ambitious club for the player. Ibrahimovic feels that Milan will be giving Inter the fight of their lives for the Italian Sire A title and the domestic cup. He also feels Milan will be the favourites to win the Champions league this coming season. These ambitions and winning mentality that is being shown by the club has greatly appealed to Ibrahimovic.
Last month, AC Milan’s CEO Adriano Galliani said that Ibrahimovic was too expensive for the Italian team and that his wage demands were also ridiculously high. He said this after discovering that Ibrahimovic currently earns around ten million Euros per annum. At the moment, that salary makes Ibrahimovic one of the highest paid footballers in the world.
The consistency with which the moods and behaviours of the AC Milan president, CEO and board of directors keeps changing coupled with Ibrahimovic not knowing what he wants to do in the near future, makes this deal look all the more possible as the days go by. It wouldn’t be surprising to see the deal get in motion as early as next week.
Both the teams are well aware of the fact that openly talking about the situation is not the right thing to do. Since the negotiations would need to be handled with delicate precision and if the talks are held behind closed doors, then the chances of the move being jeopardized would be greatly cut down.
Quite recently, Ibrahimovic publically claimed that he was more than just happy at Barcelona and wished to conclude the rest of his contract at the club. He has however since then constantly been hinting at a move away from the club. So far, there has been no serious interest shown in the player but it seems like this might just be the move that the player was looking for.
If Ibrahimovic does decide to move to AC Milan, it would mean that Huntelaar would more than certainly be leaving the Italian giants this summer. He is already fallen out of favour at the club and the addition of another striker would more than certainly single the end of the players’ career at the club.
It will be interesting to see how the move shapes up in the near future.
