Zlatan Ibrahimovic praises fellow striker Filippo Inzaghi
AC Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic praised his teammate Filippo Inzaghi after the Italian scored two goals as a substitute against Real Madrid.
Inzaghi came off the bench at half-time for Milan, taking only 33 minutes to turn the game around single-handedly.
The striker's contract with Milan was set to expire in June this year, but he was awarded a one-year extension to his deal at the end of last season.
Since the arrival of Ibrahimovic and Robinho this summer, many have questioned whether the 37-year-old would be able to claim a place in Allegri's attacking lineup, which also includes Alexandre Pato and Ronaldinho.
But after his display against Real, Ibrahimovic commended his elder teammate for his undying motivation.
"He should get more playing time, because he is performing," he told Swedish daily
Sportbladet. "I am very impressed by him being 37 and wanting to continute to score like he does. Even in training, he is the same. It's unbelievable."
Inzaghi allows Ibrahimovic more freedom
In addition, Ibrahimovic said he enjoys the freer role he occupies when Inzaghi is on the field, compared to when he is partnered by Ronaldinho, Robinho or Pato.
The irrational striker, whose freedom to operate was contained by Barcelona's rigid tactics during last season, said he thrives when playing with Inzaghi.
"I feel more free when I play with Inzaghi because I can move everywhere. And I know he will be in the box. When I play with the Brazilians, it feels like I have to be more in the box."
Despite the draw, the Swede said Milan are still in control of their destiny in the Champions League ahead of their trip to AJ Auxerre on 23 November.
"It's a pity we didn't win the game, it would have been perfect for our confidence. But we have a point and are second in the group. There are two games left and we have everything in our own hands."
