Zlatan Ibrahimovic says AC Milan are improving
AC Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic said his side is constantly improving after he salvaged a point for the Italians against Ajax Amsterdam in the Champions League.
Milan's form has been inconsistent during the start of the season. Massimiliano Allegri's team are fifth in the Serie A with eight points from five games, and the Italians were held to a 1–1 draw in Amsterdam
on Tuesday.
After the game, Ibrahimovic, who has scored three goals in Europe and two in the domestic league since his arrival from FC Barcelona, insisted that both he and his team have stronger performances to come.
"Today, the team played better. We were more compact than before and we reacted to going behind. I am doing my best at the moment, I want to win, and this team is helping me a lot."
The Swede, who played for Ajax between 2001 and 2004, scored Milan's only goal in the game after bursting into the penalty box and hitting a half-volley past Maarten Stekelenburg. It was his first ever
goal against a former club.
Still adjusting after promising start
As the only Milan player to get on the scoresheet in the recent league games against Genoa and Lazio, Ibrahimovic has already proven his worth for his new club.
But despite his strong start, the striker said that he is still adjusting to Allegri's formation. Milan play a classic 4–4–2 formation, while Ibrahimovic is used to forming part of a three-man attack from
his spell at Barcelona last season.
“I’m used to playing with two strikers and with three, depending on the trainer. I have no preference. We have to play together and that is the only way we will improve. But we are back on track.”
Milan's next European fixture is against Group G leaders Real Madrid on 19 October.
