Zlatan Ibrahimovic says team work is key at AC Milan
AC Milan's Zlatan Ibrahimovic has said that he has come to realize the importance of team work while looking ahead to his team's Champions League encounter with Real Madrid on Tuesday, October 19.
Since joining Milan on a loan deal from Barcelona in the summer, the striker has made a telling impact for the team. The Swedish national team captain has five goals in eight appearances, and is Milan's only goalscorer in Europe so far this season, with
three Champions League strikes so far.
Against Chievo on Saturday, the striker provided crucial support for striking partner Alexandre Pato, as he set up the Brazilian with two clever assists.
Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Ibrahimovic confirmed that he's happy to be back in Italy, where he spent five seasons with Juventus and Inter Milan before joining the Spanish champions last summer.
"How am I? I am very well. So many things have been invented over my condition in this period," said Ibrahimovic, whose fitness was questioned over the recent international break. "I like being in Italy again, and there is a great atmosphere in the Milan
camp. Everyone agrees with each other and it's nice."
Despite his individual record at Milan and the media's focus on the Swede as the team's star striker, Ibrahimovic said that team work is and will continue to be essential for the team's successes this season.
"I am now looking to work a lot for the team," he said, adding that his individualism has subsided over recent years. "At the start of your career, you want to get yourself recognised and you are more individualist. Then you understand that the group is
more important than the individual and that you can only go far with the team. I am working really hard and I am killing myself for my team-mates. If they win, then I win too, and so this is the most important."
