Zo Impressive to strike in the Alabama Stakes
The Grade 1 Alabama Stakes has pulled together a rather competitive with more than one possibility for bagging the £232,258 prize money. The mile and two furlong race will be held at Saratoga race course on Saturday, 18th August. Seven three-year-old runners have turned for the challenge. There is hardly an entry who has not posted a success on the profile recently and even if they have wavered from the first position, the otherwise has not been anything unacceptable.
One of the most impressive contenders for the race is the three-year-old, Zo Impressive. The filly started racing just this season and has taken part in six races, never driving down the second position.
She did not wait for a second asking to clear the maiden special weight rather cleared it at the very first attempt at Gulfstream Park on 22nd January, 2012 over six furlongs.
The Thomas Albertrani trained convinced the connections that she was ready for racing in graded company just through her third outing of the career after winning an allowance race at Gulfstream Park on 25th February, 2012 over a mile.
Zo Impressive’s first graded try was in the Grade 2 Gulfstream Oaks on 31st March, 2012 over 1 1/8 miles. The race was won by, Grace Hall, as the three-year-old filly settled as the runner-up.
The conviction of the connections continued as they had the filly entered in the Grade 1 Acorn Stakes on 28th May, 2012 at the Belmont Park over a mile on dirt. However, this time too she finished a decent second against the winner, Contested, who had the race settled in a minute and :34.61 seconds.
The third time the daughter of Hard Spun was sent to race a graded event she gifted the connections with just what they were waiting for. She won the Grade 1 Mother Goose on 23rd June, 2012 at the Belmont Park over 1 1/16 miles.
The Live Oak Plantation owned then fell back into the routine of second scores by finishing the Grade 1 Coaching Club American Oaks behind the winner, Questing.
Today is a straight fourth time that the three-year-old is racing in a Grade 1 race.
