Zodiac Zeus proclaimed himself as the speedy winner in the Blanchford Gold Cup - Heats
The race track of Oxford scheduled three heat shows of Blanchford Gold Cup on the 10th of October 2011. The event entailing the purse of £150 covered the distance of 450 meters, which made trainer N McEllistrim’s hound Zodiac Zeus the star of
the show. He managed to reach the finish line in minimal time as compared to the rest of the hounds.
The show started off with Blanchford Gold Cup – Heat 1. As the trap doors opened at 8:17, all eyes were on trainer N Colton’s Jolly Poacher.
The trap 1 racer was sent in the chase with 6/4 F odds, but unfortunately he was not able to present an impressive race.
On the other side trainer A Kibble’s trap 3 racer Spencers Lad taking advantage of the situation stole the show with his abrupt and swift pace.
The brindle dog, with odds of 4/1, commenced his chase with an impressive pace, his out class chase helped him in attaining the lead.
Sustaining the pointer position the young victorious hound surged himself fabulously through the lot of hounds, and eventually got hold of the wire in 26.78 seconds.
After the conclusion of the first combat, the track was ready to be set on fire in the Blanchford Gold Cup – Heat 2.
As the signal was received, the six hounds dashed through their respective traps, in urge to win the purse.
Freedom Emma who was sent in with the most bets for trainer R Yeates was expected to present a thrilling chase, and win the prize money, but nothing happened the way it was pictured.
The stadium of Oxford was given a chance to experience the hidden talent of trainer N McEllistrim’s Zodiac Zeus.
The hound was in the race with less bets, but his impressive chase assisted him in winning the purse. Later on he was also declared as the fastest winner of the event, taking 26.61 seconds to wrap up his quest.
Wearing blue and white shirt the hound began his chase from trap 2, with high momentum. His swift entrance in the race became a threat for rest of the contenders, who got whitewashed by the young champ.
Remaining at the lead, N McEllistrim’s two-year-old fabulously crossed over and proclaimed his ownership for the purse, as well as the title.
As the second show of the event finished up the third and the last show of the event was ready to declare the third purse winner of the Blanchford Gold Cup – Heat 3.
N Colton's Rebel Ace was at last given an opportunity to enjoy the glee of the victory.
The trap 3 racer, placed in the chase with 2/1 odds, unfortunately faced a great sum of obstructions in the beginning, but the three-year-old impressively got himself through the hassle.
At the fourth bend, he was lucky enough to acquire the pointer position and soon he crossed over by sustaining the head start position.
Besides giving an inspiring hit and winning the purse of £150, Zodiac Zeus grabbed the spotlight by concluding his quest in the least time. His chase at the Oxford dirt track gave trainer N McEllistrim a reason to enjoy the festivity that came along with
the victory.
