Zoffany ruled out of Irish 2000 Guineas with colic: Horse Racing News
It has been reported that the racehorse Zoffany will not be running in the Curragh meeting that has been scheduled to take place on Saturday. It was initially planned that the racehorse will return to the racecourse and make an impressive performance in
the Abu Dhabi Irish 2000 Guineas event, but now colic has ruled him out.
Zoffany is trained under the care of the famed trainer, Aidan O’Brien. For his good racing record, he was as short as 7-2 for the Saturday meeting. These odds made him the second market favourite behind the racehorse Dubawi Gold, who currently dominates
the Irish Classic market. It has been revealed that Zoffany was also registered for the 6 furlong Greenland Stakes. This Group 3 event has also been scheduled to take place on Saturday.
Zoffany is the son of the champion racehorse, Dansili. When he started his racing career as a juvenile horse, he managed to bag victories in many races that included the Group 1 Phoenix Stakes. It is also reported that Zoffany did not make a public appearance
after he finished the National Stakes in the third spot behind the winner Pathfork back in September of the last racing season.
According to the comments of the wife of the famed trainer, Anne-Marie O’Brien, the champion racehorse has been laid down with colic. She also said that it was found that Zoffany has colic on the afternoon of Monday. She further went on to say that the racehorse
has been given treatment for it, but she is afraid that he will be going to contend the Guineas event on Saturday.
As this news reached the market of the meeting, the sponsor Paddy Power decreased the odds of the leading contender Dubawi Gold to as short as 6-4. Meanwhile, the second favourite for the meeting has now been reported to be Roderic O’Connor.
Other prominent contenders of this race are the racehorses Dunboyne Express, Zabarajad and Master Of Hounds. There has not been a decrease in the odds of the aforementioned participants.
