ZombiU survival mode difficult but not impossible to beat, reveal Ubisoft developers
Ubisoft’s survival horror first-person shooter ZombiU is one tough game to beat, something that Wii U owners are already well aware of.
However, the normal mode feels like a walk in the park once the player tries the survival mode, which takes the difficulty of level to an entirely new level.
The game’s developers conceded during an interview with Iwata Asks that they began to get an impression themselves that it was next to impossible to complete the ZombiU survival mode.
Managing director of Ubisoft France Xavier Poix revealed that it was only two-to-three days before the completion of the game that someone actually managed to beat the survival mode, thus making the development team believe that it was actually possible
to complete it.
Guillaume Brunier, producer at Ubisoft, pointed out that the enemies in survival mode are not any harder than that in the normal mode.
He added that most of the players that he saw dying while trying out the survival mode during the development of the game had nobody but themselves to blame, as they had allowed their concentration to slip.
“The enemies aren't any stronger in this mode, but there were lots of times when the staff working on the development of the game were killed because they let their concentration slip for just a split second," he explained.
After taking the feedback of testers into account, as well as experiencing the difficulty themselves, ZombiU developers decided to eventually make some minor adjustments to the survival mode with the intention of making the difficulty somewhat fair.
Besting the survival mode is something that not every ZombiU player will be able to do. Keeping this in mind, Ubisoft has made sure that the first person to hold his own against overwhelming odds gets due recognition through the leader-board.
ZombiU is one of the 23 titles that Nintendo’s first-ever HD console launched with in North America on November 18. The game makes use of the console’s tablet controller GamePad intensively and requires players to learn how to use the controller, especially
secondary screen, effectively to have a solid chance of surviving the horror.
