Zombies...Poetic...?

If you had to make zombies sound poetic or describe them in a poetic way...what would you say? How would you describe them?

Zombies are the poor, pallid, remains of pathetic souls who's bodies still walk the earth in anguish. Their personalities and consciousness are no longer within them.  We recognize them not, for they are struggling to find their eternal resting places and lasting peace.

They are an analogy of how we humans cannot escape the ugly, grim death and inevitable decay that await us. The more frantic our flight from death, the more likely we are to stumble upon it.....at the mall.
